35th and 36th Street reconstruction planned

Minneapolis will be reconstructing about 1.6 miles of 35th Street and 36th Street. This workwill happen between Blaisdell Ave and Chicago Ave S. The area where the work will happen has mostly single-family housing with a mixture of apartment buildings and businesses at each end. Right now, there's a sidewalk on both sides of the street, two lanes for cars, and two parking lanes.

Open House: Phase 2*

When: Wednesday, April 30 | 6-8 p.m.
Where: Central Gym & Recreation Center (3400 4th Ave S)
 
This project is a full reconstruction project, involving the entire right-of-way. This will include:

• New sidewalks,
• ADA pedestrian ramps
• Consideration of bicycle accommodations
• New pavement
• New curb and gutter
• Utility improvements.

The project will also include signal improvements, new signage, and new pavement markings, as needed.

*Open House Phase 1: The project team held a virtual open house on Dec.10, 2024. This open house provided an introduction and overview of the project.
