As we launch our summer membership drive, we want to ask for your support. Before that, we want to tell you why we think this work matters more than ever.
Our team has spent some time the last several weeks trying to answer a big question: Who are we, and why do we matter?
We settled on one big thing we do really well: Neighborhood News, For, By, and About Us.
So many moments from the past few years have been hard. When a gunman opened fire at Annunciation, Melody was on the scene to report on what was happening. When Renee Good and Alex Pretti were shot in our coverage area, our reporters were there facing tear gas and documenting everything. Neighborhood News, For, By, and About Us.
There were beautiful moments, too. We stepped up to cover the openings of countless coffee shops, bus lines, live shows, farmers markets, and more. We promoted the community events that were too small for the bigger guys but just big enough to transform your family's night from a boring evening on the couch to a beautiful memory in a park. You were there in all of those moments. Loving your neighbors. Supporting them. Giving them what they needed. The people in this city pulled together and stepped up for one another time and again, through tragedy and triumph, so many times since we launched back in 2021. Neighborhood News, For, By, and About Us.
We want to be there to support you in all of those moments for many months and years to come. But to go that, we need your support. We are trying to gain 200 new paying members this summer, which will keep us going and sustainable into 2027 and beyond.
You deserve Neighborhood News, For, By, and About Us. In exchange for your support, we promise to bring that to you every single day. Every dollar that we earn goes back into operating and strengthening our publication, and if our summer membership drive is more successful than we expect, we will add more resources to cover our neighborhood through whatever good and bad comes our way. We know we can get through anything, together, because we already have.
