JOIN HOMEGROWN MINNEAPOLIS FOOD COUNCIL
Do you garden, cook, eat, own or work in a food business, visit or engage with a food shelf? Are you passionate about sustainable growing, preventing wasted food, or other ways the food system influences our climate? Then you may be a great candidate for the food council. The Homegrown Minneapolis Food Council is currently recruiting candidates for two-year terms to begin in July 2025. The food council advises the Mayor and City Council on food systems issues.Applications are being accepted until March 31.
SAVE THE FOOD WORKSHOP APRIL 9
The Tangletown, Kingfield, and Lyndale neighborhood organizations are hosting a workshop series in 2026 focused on helpful tips to reduce food waste. The first workshop, Save the Food, kicks off on April 9, from 7–8 p.m., on Zoom. Learn smart shopping strategies, simple kitchen habits, and storage tips that help your groceries last longer – all from Hennepin County Food Waste Prevention Specialist Jenny Kedward. She’ll also share how the county is expanding support to help residents make an even bigger impact.
NICOLLET REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
The City invites you to give feedback on the Phase 1 development proposals for the New Nicollet redevelopment project at Nicollet Avenue and Lake Street in south Minneapolis. In January, the City of Minneapolis received two proposals for this phase of the development. These proposals line up with the vision created during three years of planning and more than 20,000 conversations with the community. Both proposals include: affordable housing, retail spaces, community service, and indoor space for park programs. City staff will consider community feedback when they choose which proposal to recommend in early April. The City Council and Mayor will make the final decision.
LINDEN HILLS GRANTS
The 2026 Linden Hills Neighborhood Council Spring grant application opened on March 4. Each spring, LHiNC reviews applications for grants of up to $1000, to organizations, projects, and programs that make Linden Hills a better place to live and work. In the past, they have funded community gardens, ASL interpreters on Como-Harriet street car rides, art projects, and many local musical acts. Apply no later than 11:59 p.m. on April 17. Applicants must be 501(c)3 organizations.

Bame Financial Group (4250 Upton Ave S) has moved to Linden Hills. “With years of experience helping individuals and families create financial plans, owner Niko Bame is a wonderful new addition to our community,” according to the Linden Hills Neighborhood Association e-newsletter.
