Last week, the Washburn and Southwest soccer teams played each other in the always exciting rivalry games. The Washburn girls beat Southwest 1-0 in overtime, and the Southwest boys won 3-0.
The teams are back in action today. Washburn girls play Blake and Washburn boys play Edison, both at home. Southwest girls play a blended team from Edison, North, and Henry and the boys play Henry, both away.
Unlike the Packers (who won in overtime last night) and Vikings (who also won, whoop dee doo), the entire Southwest Voices team remains neutral on this hyper-local battle.

We'd like to wish both Third Space Cafe and LynLake Brewery a happy birthday. Third Space celebrated its first birthday over the weekend and LynLake is celebrating its 8th birthday all week long. Tonight, Firefighters for Healing is hosting Bingo and is bringing along a pull tab machine.
Oh, and...it's our birthday week too! We are celebrating our first birthday this week. Tomorrow is our "official" birthday and we have some fun content lined up for you. And don't forget about our birthday party at Williams on Thursday.

Minneapolis City Council and committees
The Policy & Government Oversight committee meets today at 1:30 p.m. On the agenda are two Minneapolis Police Department retention incentives up for discussion: a $6,000 bonus for staying on through the end of the year and allowing officers to exceed the vacation accrual maximum of 400 hours. The committee is also set to approve a legal settlement that spurs from a lawsuit Henry James Holmes brought against Minneapolis and two police officers alleging that he suffered personal injury when the officers used excessive force against him when they arrested him in 2018. The settlement releases the City and officers from all claims made against them by Holmes.
The Planning Commission meets today at 4:30 p.m. and will revisit approving the zoning for a development at 4352 Zenith (right next to Wooden Ship Brewery). The approval has been delayed due to complaints from some resident about the development.
