At 4:30 today, the City of Minneapolis’s Planning Commission is meeting to discuss a developer’s request to build a five-story mixed use building at 5009 Beard Ave S. in place of the church that houses Lake Harriet Christian Church Childcare. The property sold for over $1.5 million in September. Peter Crandall, a senior city planner,  stressed that the development proposal is still in an early stage and that the proposal could change. We will have a longer article up about this property later this morning.

The City Council meets this morning at 10:30. On the agenda – establishing a Housing/Rent Stabilization Work Group, a new electric vehicle charging ordinance, and the appointment of Alberder Gillespie as the city's new director of Civil Rights, who is currently serving as interim director. The council will also continue its discussion around the construction of a new water distribution and maintenance facility in East Phillips. The City Council blocked the construction to allow for community involvement. The next day, Mayor Jacob Frey vetoed the council's decision.  The council can override the veto at today's meeting.

LynLake Brewery has some pretty fun events the next two days, starting with a Super Smash Brothers tournament tonight and a meat raffle tomorrow night. No word yet on how Yoshi tastes.
