There's a new piercing shop coming to the Lake and Irving area Melody wrote a piece yesterday on Bevel, the new place that will take over from Saint Sabrina's (which closed in 2020) as the go-to Uptown-area piercing shop.

Lake & Irving, in particular, has gotten a ton of new life in the past couple of months, adding Legacy and Les Sól down the street from Barbette and Trapeze. Now, Bevel will join the party when they open in about a month. They're tracking their journey on Instagram if you want to follow along.

Two important meetings at the City Council today.

The Committee of the Whole meets at 1:30 to discuss a presentation on the Mayor's proposed government structure, which will fully restructure the city's government following the passage of the "strong mayor" amendment last year. Final action is expected from the City Council on November 17.

They'll also discuss American Rescue Plan allocations for August (including a $250k grant to the Metropolitan Visiting Nurses Association to "provide in-home care to low-income seniors that did not yet qualify for Medicare" and $277k for rental assistance funds), and to approve the city calendar for 2022-2023.

The Budget Committee will meet at 10:00 a.m. to hear presentations on the Mayor's proposed budget along with budgets for the Police Department and Office of Neighborhood Safety.
