OUR TOP STORIES THIS WEEK

Over the past week, we added to our Hennepin Redesign Perspective Page and published an interview with Jessica Burge of Cafe Meow.

We published a response from former City Council candidate Mike Norton regarding comments Linea Palmisano made in an interview with Southwest Voices.

PUBLIC SAFETY COVERAGE

This morning we published our editorial statement on how we are going to cover crime and public safety. This afternoon we are publishing the most recent data on auto thefts and carjackings in our neighborhoods. We are analyzing this data because we believe it helps people see the patterns and trends instead of fixating on the drumbeat of news about specific crimes. We can’t have dialogue or deliberation about what to do unless we can first see what’s actually happening

OUT & ABOUT THIS WEEKEND
The (free) Winter Luminary and Skating Party is Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Bryant Square Park. There will be luminaries around the skating rink with music, skating, a bonfire and hot cocoa.

The Minneapolis Park Board is scaling back building hours. Recreation centers will be open for preregistered and ActivePass programs only. Warming room hours are scaled back due to lack of staffing.

Or just stay inside and do some online shopping. If you are into The Wombats, The Electric Fetus has secured all 500 copies of the band's limited edition vinyl, set to be released on Tuesday. You can pre-order one here.

Mel Reeves, rest in power.
