Broders' Cucina Italiana is back open today at 11 AM following their recent fire. It sounds like they'll need a bit more time to get their pizza oven back in operation, but they'll be back in action (along with their sister restaurants at the Pasta Bar and Terzo) if you want to go support them. A fight about the cracks in a Cedar Isles condo tower and the Southwest light rail project is continuing, with a forensic engineering firm (caveat: hired by the Met Council) saying that the vast majority of the structural damage was caused by other factors than the construction. Rep. Frank Hornstein (who talked about the project in his interview with us) and Sen. Scott Dibble toured the condos yesterday. (Star Tribune)

Take a walking tour of the new Grand Avenue tonight with the Kingfield Neighborhood Association Redevelopment Committee and representatives of Minneapolis Public Works Department. City staff and project engineers will be there to talk through the design, look at trouble spots, and answer questions about the project.

There's another Cedar-Isles Master Plan meeting tonight from 6-8 p.m. focusing on water quality. Water quality specialists from Emmons & Oliver Resources (EOR) will share information about how to evaluate lakes and what data tell us about the current conditions at Cedar and Isles.
