During Pride Month in the Twin Cities, the main event that comes to mind is the annual Pride Festival in Loring Park. But Southwest Minneapolis is full of awesome events throughout the rest of the month to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, and we’ve hand-picked a few for you here.

Monday, June 19

The Minnesota Freedom Concert and Jazz Bands perform at the Lake Harriet Bandshell. The Minnesota Freedom Band is a community band comprised of LGBTQ+ musicians. 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., free!

Wednesday, June 21

Denver-born singer/songwriter Jill Sobule plays at the Icehouse. Her song “I Kissed a Girl” (not Katy Perry’s), released in 1995, was the first openly gay song to hit the Billboard Top 20. Along with LGBTQ+ issues and experiences, her songs tackle themes such as reproduction, the death penalty, mental health, and more. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 day of show. Doors open at 5 p.m. and music starts at 6 p.m.

Live music at Mortimer’s: Metal Marty (from Supersuckers) and Surly Grrly. This show is part of riot grrl band Surly Grrly’s “It Smells Queer in Here” June Residency at Mortimer’s every Wednesday. 8:30 p.m. 21+. Tickets are $10 and available at the door only. Stick around for the jam sesh after the artists’ sets!

Thursday, June 22

Pride Panel: Cultivating Connections Through Queer Art and Performance at Mia. Queer artists from the Twin Cities will discuss the intersection of their identities and their practice. 6:30 p.m. The event is free, but reservations are required.

Friday, June 23

Minneapolis Trolley is doing a “Fruit Loop” pride loop hitting some of the city’s beloved queer spaces. Tickets are $30 and available here. Starts at 4 p.m.

Bryant Lake Bowl Pride Block Party with live music, a drag show, and a DJ set. Kicking off the event is She Burgers, the COOLEST pre-teen band with musicians ages 7 to 11. The party goes from 6 - 10 p.m, more info about who’s performing when on the website.

Pride Comedy Show at Sisyphus Brewing. Showtimes at 7 and 9 p.m. Tickets are $25.

Discohouse, a 3-day pride rooftop dance party starts at Roxy’s Cabaret tonight at 8 p.m. and goes until 2 a.m. Get down to house, pop, and disco music spun by local DJs. Tickets range from $15 to $55 depending on which package you get.

Saturday, June 24

Silver Circle Pride Breakfast at 9 a.m. in Loring Park, an opportunity for LGBTQ+ community members over the age of 55 to come together over a free breakfast and connect with others in the community. Plus, there’s bingo! Location can be found on this festival map.

Queer icon Joey Arias performs at the Icehouse tonight with Eliot Douglas and Brandon Seabrook. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 day of show.

Soul Friday Pride is happening (on Saturday) at the Icehouse. It’s a dance party created by and for queer people of color. Party with fellow members of the QTBIPOC community, featuring DJs Keezy, Queen Duin, and Lady L. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the party starts at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 day of show.

Midnight screening of the 1975 queer cult classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, at the Parkway Theater. Doors open at 11:30 p.m., the film starts at midnight. Featuring a live shadow cast performance by Transvestite Soup. Tickets are $10.

Saturday, June 25

If you’re sick of corporate pride, there is a Taking Back Pride March at 10 a.m. protesting the “continued presence of cops, capitalism, and corporations at Twin Cities Pride”. The meeting point is North 6th Street and Hennepin Ave.

The Third Annual Queer Beach Party returns to Cedar Lake South Beach at 12 p.m. Bring beach/lawn games (cornhole, frisbee, etc.) and sunscreen!

Draggy Divas Once Upon a Time at La Doña Cervecería from 2 to 5 p.m. This is an all-ages, family friendly drag show! Tickets are $10 for kids and $15 for adults.
