Melody's attended and wrote a story about Tuesday's Business, Housing, Inspections, and Zoning Committee meeting. From the piece: "In a voice vote done over the shouts of protestors, the Business, Inspections, Housing & Zoning Committee approved funding for homelessness programs, including street outreach and Avivo Village housing. The funding is a continuation of a joint partnership between the City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County.Numerous people, including residents of the encampments, showed up in protest of the recent encampment sweeps. In recent weeks, Minneapolis police cleared encampments in Near North and South Minneapolis. Residents at the camps are still trying to track down their belongings cleared from the sites."

In case you missed it when we published on Friday, Loring Park is getting a great new coffee shop, Fawkes Alley. The shop is the brainchild of the organizers behind the Futsal Society organization. As a bonus, it will be located in one of the city's most photogenic alleys – the one that connects Harmon Place and Maple Street directly off Loring Park.

Did you know you can go vote today? You can literally go fill out your ballot and be done! As a bonus, a bunch of campaigns will then take you off their lists, so you won't be bothered with calls or door knocks. You should be able to get in and get out in minutes with no waiting.
You can vote at the Minneapolis Early Voting Center, located at 980 E Hennepin Ave.
You can also vote in the skyway level of the Hennepin County Government Center, located at 300 South 6th St. While it's highly unlikely there will be a line, they have a cool option if you're really worried about doing it as fast as possible – you can text them to join the line. Details below.
