Editor's note: This story was updated on Jan. 8 to reflect a possible business moving in.

In 2022, Chicago’s Very Own opened at the northwest corner of the LynLake intersection. It was a big deal because it meant each corner of that bustling intersection had an open business for the first time in years. In fact, it was the first time a business had operated at that particular corner since Milo’s Sandwiches closed in 2015.

By June 2023, Chicago’s Very Own was closed, as notes were posted on the doors at 2944 Lyndale Ave. S stating “we are not open today to the public.” But a recent sale of the building means it might not be vacant for much longer.

A note posted to Chicago’s Very Own door letting customers know they were closed on June 23, 2023.

According to Minnesota Department of Revenue records, Chicago’s Very Own sold the building to Rehman LLC for close to $1.1 million in October 2023. The hoagie shop had bought the building for $870,000 in 2021.According to the City of Minneapolis valuation history, the property jumped in value from $690,500 in 2022 to $1 million in 2023. When the property was vacant from 2015-2022, its value hovered at $600,000.

Rehman LCC lists two addresses: one in St. Cloud and one in Minneapolis, 312 W. Lake St., the Rana South building.

City records aren’t yet showing any new business licenses or inspection permits at the LynLake property, but the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal reported in October 2023 that New York Gyros is set to open in the building. New York Gyros currently operates out of 312 W. Lake St.
