A new sign popped up this week in South Uptown with a palm tree and RUMBA MPLS in giant letters. On the business’s door, there is an announcement posted that Rumba is currently hiring staff for its multi-story Latinx lounge. Rumba is “the new Latinx Lounge in Uptown that you didn’t know you needed,” the announcement reads.

The mixologist at Iconos Gastro Cantina, Daniel Torres, is one of the owners behind Rumba, opening soon at the northeast corner of West Lake Street and Girard Avenue.

Rumba’s mission is to “bring diversity and unity to the Uptown area and create an experience like no other.” The lounge’s announcement also promises Latin Caribbean tapas and cocktails that “will take your senses to another world.”

Rumba will join fellow Latino business Boludo just down the block on Girard Avenue. With Green Room, Uptown Ties, and Daisys opening this year, Rumba will be the fourth nightclub to open within a block radius in Uptown.

Although the owners aren’t keen on talking with reporters just yet, they are hoping to be open around July 20.
