The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is hosting an open house Nov. 12, 2026 to present information about the proposed natural repair options to stabilize the Bde Maka Ska shoreline. The open house is an opportunity to stop in and review materials on display and ask questions of staff.
It will be from 5:30-7 p.m. at the
The Terrace Room at St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church
3450 Irving Ave. S.

The MPRB along with its consultant team continues to study shoreline repair options for a segment of shoreline along the west side of Bde Maka Ska.
A Feasibility Report [PDF] has been developed which examines the main causes leading to the current deterioration of shoreline and highlights four specific repair options. All shoreline repair options focus on naturalized approaches.
Specific project goals are to:
• Stabilize the shoreline from further erosion
• Maintain usability of the pedestrian trail
• Provide water quality benefits to the lake
Secondary project goals are aimed at improving habitat along the shoreline and better maintaining vegetation and views along the lake.
